Homemade Frozen Cookie Dough

Is there anything better than warm chocolate chip cookies right out of the oven?  The answer is no. Unfortunately for my children, their mother has zero self control and she tends to eat most of them all of them in a few days time and they only get one or two.

So I came up with a solution!  I make the cookie dough ahead of time and freeze pre-made scoops of it.  I take out three at the end of the school day and they each get a warm cookie.  And that defeats their evil and cruel cookie hungry mother! <insert victorious laugh>  As long as she stays out of the freezer :)

My family loves this cookie recipe.  It makes the softest cookies Ever.  The secret ingredient is instant vanilla pudding mix.  I may even sometimes go wild and crazy and use instant white chocolate pudding mix.  Watch out world!

So simple and obvious, but here's what you do.  Make your cookie dough and scoop it out onto a cookie sheet.  Pop it into the freezer for about half an hour and then take it out and put the cookie dough balls into a freezer ziploc bag.  I like to label the bag with the temperature and cook time so that I don't have to go scrounging for my recipe.  Three kids will fry your brain like that.
Then when it is cookie time, I take out the amount I want to make and put them on a cookie sheet and bake.

They come out of the oven and look all yummy and delicious.

Then the crazy kids come running into the house and the prettiness is gone.  But the smiles and thank yous arrive.  And those last forever :)

Go forth and make your family (or yourself!) cookies today!  What is your favorite cookie recipe?

  1. Great idea to freeze the dough balls! I started doing this, and it works great and helps so much to have them on-hand ready to bake! Thanks for the idea!
